Which one, by age
Pick by your youngest:
Under five. The ninja cafe is the only option that takes three- and four-year-olds. It is on a fourth floor with no elevator, so carry the stroller. Vicky’s kendo lets younger children watch, not take part.
Five to nine. Vicky’s kendo is the strongest choice: it is the most reviewed experience on this site, and the instructor is used to beginners. The karate class takes children from six, on Monday mornings and the second and fourth Thursday. The VR ninja experience suits seven and up.
Ten and up. The real-sword sessions open up: trial slashing, Become the Shogun in armor, the castle tour in armor and the iaido session. Children of 12 and older can also join the samurai culture session with calligraphy and tea.
Teenagers who want depth. DeepExperience’s private sessions with a sword master state no minimum age; ask the operator before booking for a child. Samurai sword experiences compares them.
Before you book
- Book for every child. Each child who takes part needs a place of their own.
- Sizes. Vicky asks for height, weight and gender to fit the armor; give the children’s too.
- Babies. Become the Shogun is not suitable for babies under one.
